GMOs
GMOs The World´s greatest enterprises of the chemical industry, that - during the last century - poisoned the waters, the air, the lands and our flora and fauna now want to get our comestible. By gene-technical methods they have prepared plants that have cells generating pesticides or that had became resistant against a kind of total herbicide - usually produced by the same company. If we eat products originating from such plants, they get out of control and can cause serious health, ecological and economic damages.
Health risksDuring the gene modification process such genes get into our industrial crops that are unknown for our organism. As a consequence, the number of allergetic illnesses can rise significantly and also can cause cancer.
Ecological dangersAll cells of pesticide-generating plants produce this pesticide so that these increase the chemical burden of our soils and waters. What´s more, while the pests can become resistant against this pesticide, the reserved species may hurt. The generation of plants that are reluctant against the herbicides increase the utilisation of chemicals. By crossing, such super weeds can be developed that are even more reluctant against herbicides, so surges the need to produce more toxic chemicals.
Economic risksMost of the European consumers reject the genetically modified comestibles, so we can sell our Hungarian products only if we can ensure that they are not modified.
GM-free Hungary! As a response on the threat of gene modification, most of the Europeans declerate themselves GMO-free areas. So far 62 townships, the territory next to Galga - covering 18 further townships - and the region of the Nyugat- and Dél-dunántúl have declared themselves beeing a GMO-free area. In order to join more townships a lot of settlements are collecting signatures. Please don´t hesitate, sign it! If in your place of abode there is no campaign against the GM products yet, please launch it. In case of any uncertainity, ask our help.
GM-free households and landsIf you have a soil or garden declare it a GM-free area, fill in the declaration sheet dealing with this topic. Tell your friends and acquaintanceship to join as well! Social organisations, churchs and other institutions - even schools - can declare themselves being GM-free areas.
